When he was younger, Shownu competed as a swimmer and was amazing at it, but he stopped to focus on his studies.

Shownu got into music because of Rain, who also inspired him to audition for JYP.

He was a trainee at JYP Entertainment for 2 years, training alongside GOT7 and Miss A. Shownu won first place at his JYP open audition by covering Rainism!

Before No Mercy, Shownu was apart of a short-lived group called Nuboyz.

Before joining Starship, Shownu was a back up dancer for Lee Hyori's BAD GIRL.
